Established in 1976, the Directorate of Distance Education of KU is one of the oldest institutes in India. It has been
facilitating learners from different backgrounds who did not have access to regular studies due to various reasons or who
preferred arranging their studies around their work or family. With a strong innovative focus on its pedagogical, curricular,
infrastructural and student service policies, the Directorate has been recognized as No. 1 institute of distance learning by
Career 360 Survey.
In consonance with the emerging needs of the society and economy, the Directorate of Distance Education at KU has always
added new courses, restructured the existing ones and designed new methods of delivery to its distance learners. Presently,
the Directorate offers 45 courses at the postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate levels to its approximately 20,000
students. All the courses offered by the Directorate are recognized by the Distance Education Council and the students who pass
out with our certificates, diplomas and degrees are allowed to join regular studies and take jobs in different professions in
India and abroad.
Changing times require changes in student engagement and provision of facilities. In view of this, the Directorate has an
interactive website (www.ddekuk.ac.in) for its existing and prospective learners. The admissions and delivery of study material
is available online. The Directorate of Distance Education has taken many students’ friendly initiatives in the last one decade
such as updating its study material, online forms, online fee gateway, Mobile App, SMS and E-mail services.
